There will be a Traveling School Nurse position available within the Olentangy Local School District for the 2024-2025 school year. The school nurse provides the school(s) with the best medical attention possible, from basic first-aid to serious injuries; creates a climate of health and well-being in the school; and maintains up-to-date and complete health records on students and staff. Qualified candidates must be a registered nurse licensed by the State of Ohio, hold or be eligible for valid and appropriate licensure with the Ohio Department of Education, and hold CPR certification.

Essential functions: ensure the safety of students; assume responsibility for injured or ill students; conduct hearing and vision screenings; refer students in need of medical/dental care to the proper local agency; act as a health consultant for teachers, students, school, health and community agencies; prepare and submit all needed medical reports; act as a liaison between the school district and medical community where appropriate; assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions; provide in-service training programs on health issues; dispense medication when appropriate; assist in disease control programs such as screenings for lice and other communicable diseases; work cooperatively with classroom teachers to schedule screenings; observe ethics of the nursing profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment; and, interact in a positive manner with students, staff and parents.
